Tortu Mail is a fully anonymous email service. We don't know who you are. We don't care.
All messages sent via our webmail are stored encrypted on the server. We use AES-256-CBC — the same standard used in military and government systems.
The encryption key is derived from your password using PBKDF2-SHA256 (100,000 iterations). This means: only you can decrypt your messages. We store no plaintext passwords — only SHA-512-CRYPT hashes. Even if the server were compromised, messages remain unreadable without your password.
You can use any email client (Thunderbird, K-9 Mail, Apple Mail, etc.)
